Our Story
Primeval Brewing was founded on the love of quality craft beer, value of friendship, and a dream to bring something unique to the vibrant central Indiana craft brewing scene. We have a passion for classic, easy-drinking European beer styles that have often been overlooked in the heavily hopped, high-alcohol tendencies of American craft brewing. We believe these styles will be appreciated by novice and experienced craft beer consumers looking for something a little different from an American craft brewery. Our beer menu is diverse and we strive to offer a range of styles that will appeal to different palates.
Our vision is to provide a taproom that invites social camaraderie with family, old friends, and new friends over a well-crafted variety of beers. We cherish the memories we have made sharing in the fellowship of beer, and hope you will create some of your own memories with us. Our focus is building from the ground up and focusing on community. We strive to be your favorite neighborhood brewery while also offering a unique experience that will attract craft beer enthusiasts from all parts of central Indiana.

The seeds for planning this brewery were planted in summer 2016 by homebrewers Nathan Compton and Tim Palmer. An IT consultant and engineer respectively, we were ready to move on from conventional careers and pursue this dream. But it wasn’t an easy decision. The craft beer scene had exploded in recent years and we knew that trend would continue before we could open our doors. Concerns of a stagnant, oversaturated market are very real today. But as we talked through our vision, it became clear that we could do what we believed in and offer something a little outside the norm as a result.
As homebrewers, we have honed our craft for a combined 20 years. Our recipes have won over 170 awards in sanctioned homebrewing competitions ranging from local to national level. As professional brewers, we’ve also been honored to win awards in a variety of competitions. This includes being named the 2023 Grand Champion Brewery at the Indiana State Fair’s Indiana Brewers Cup Competition.
